Psychodynamic Psychotherapy

This “talk therapy” focuses on understanding the root causes of emotional distress by exploring past experiences and relationships. By building a trusting relationship with a compassionate therapist, you can gain insights into how early life events have shaped your self-perception and current behaviors. This process aims to alleviate troubling symptoms and promote healing. 

Psychoanalysis

Similar to psychodynamic psychotherapy, psychoanalysis delves deeper into the layers of your personality to uncover the origins of troubling thoughts and behaviors. This approach typically involves more frequent sessions (three to four times per week) and offers the option of using a couch during therapy. The increased frequency fosters a more intensive therapeutic relationship, facilitating deeper exploration and resolution of emotional conflicts. 

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)

EMDR is an integrative psychotherapy approach proven effective for treating trauma and other psychological issues. It involves bilateral stimulation, such as following a moving light with your eyes or using alternating sounds to help reprocess traumatic memories. This method aims to untangle negative feelings associated with past events and forge new, positive associations, leading to reduced emotional distress and enhanced coping mechanisms. While I do not use EMDR as a stand-alone intervention, I can incorporate it into the treatment plan if warranted or desired.

Sandtray Therapy

Sandtray therapy is an expressive form of psychotherapy that allows individuals to communicate inner feelings by arranging miniature figures in a sandbox. This non-verbal approach can be particularly helpful for those who find it challenging to express emotions through words, providing a safe space to explore and resolve internal conflicts. 

Each of these therapies is designed to provide a safe and supportive environment for self-exploration and healing. Together, we can work towards understanding your experiences and developing strategies to improve your well-being.
